12 reasons why your Shopify copy may have failed + the simple fixes you can use to try and fix it!
Reason 1: My blog copy failed!
The fix: Your blog most likely has comments enabled. Please turn the comments off and then run a one-time blog copy task, that should do the trick.
Reason 2: My items are not updating in the destination store even after I kick off a new copy. I'm not seeing any error messages or failures given.
The fix: This is an easy fix, however it's one that our Customer Service team needs to manually fix on our side. Please send us an email at help@rewind.com and describe the issue (Reason 2).
Reason 3: Only a subset of my themes copied over.
The fix: Most Shopify store plans only allow so many Themes (usually 20) in your store. Please check the plan and your theme limit on your destination store. If you're over the 20 theme limit, please remove some themes from the destination store and try the copy again.
Reason 4: My file copy failed!
The fix: Please check what plan the destination store is on. Unfortunately, stores on a Trial plan cannot copy Files.
Reason 5: Why didn't my navigation menu get copied?
The fix: At the moment, Rewind does not support navigation menu copy. Please see our comprehensive guide on what we can and cannot copy for Shopify: What can Rewind Copy (formerly Replay) copy?
Reason 6: Why didn't my sales channels get copied?
The fix: We cannot copy 3rd-party sales channels from the source to the destination. We can however, copy Shopify POS and your online sales channel.
Reason 7: Why didn’t my inventory cost/shipping zone/cost per item etc… get copied?
The fix: At the moment, Rewind does not support Inventory properties as of now. Please see our comprehensive guide on what we can and cannot copy for Shopify: What can Rewind Copy (formerly Replay) copy?
Reason 8: Why did my price get overwritten in the destination store?
The fix: Please exclude the price attribute from the collection + product by following this step by step guide: How To: Exclude Certain Product Attributes from a Continuous, Automatic Products and/or Collections Copy.
Reason 9: Why isn’t my collection sort order kept?
The fix: At the moment, Rewind cannot guarantee the order of the collections for subsequent copies after the first copy due to a limitation on the Shopify API. The sort order for Custom and Smart Collection (for Smart Collections only if it was MANUALLY sorted) can only be guaranteed to copy over in the very first copy.
Reason 10: Why aren’t my metafields being copied?
The fix: At the moment, Rewind can only copy product metafields.
Reason 11: Why aren’t my continuous copies being reflected immediately?
The fix: The webhooks which copy your items could still be processing, usually this takes ~1h max. We process webhooks more quickly for some item types (products, collections, themes), but other items might be slower.
Reason 12: How can I force a webhook process (copy over a change)?
The fix: We suggest renaming the item you are trying to copy in the source store. That would trigger the webhook and kick off a copy of the item to your destination store.
