If your Rewind backups for Jira Service Management (JSM) have stopped, you’ll need to re-link your Jira Service Management instance to Rewind. Don’t worry—your previous backups remain intact, and your Rewind subscription will continue as expected. Follow these steps to re-establish the API connection between Rewind and JSM:
1. Uninstall Rewind
- Uninstall Rewind by following Atlassian’s guide here.
- Find Rewind Backups for Jira in your installed apps.
- Uninstall the app.
Important: Atlassian may keep your subscription active until the end of your billing period before allowing uninstallation. If you cannot uninstall immediately, refer to this Atlassian guide on uninstallation restrictions. If you need further assistance, contact Atlassian Support.
2. Reinstall Rewind
- Visit the Rewind listing on the Atlassian Marketplace.
- Click Get App and follow the prompts to reinstall.
- Authorize Rewind to access your Jira instance.
Important: To backup and restore data, Rewind must be installed by a user with ‘Organization Admin’ permissions in Atlassian.
3. JSM Assets
To backup JSM Assets with Rewind follow these steps:
- Sign-in to a Rewind account that has at least one Jira account linked
- Select the Jira Integration you're looking to add JSM to
- Click "Account Settings"
- Select "Backup Configuration" from the menu on your left.
- Follow this link to open your Atlassian Admin console.
- Set up a new Atlassian API token.
- Provide a label to identify your token.
- Copy the token.
- Paste it into Rewind and click Add API Token.
- Click “Activate”
- Done. Your next nightly backup will now include your Assets data. If you’d like to take a back up immediately, use the “Backup Now” button in the vault view.
What happens next?
- Your backups will automatically resume once Rewind is reinstalled.
- All your previous backups and your data remain intact.
