Configuring Cloud Sync
What is Cloud Sync?
Cloud Sync provides a means for our customers to put a copy of their backups into a destination of their choosing. This is a space your company owns and manages, outside of the Rewind Backups system for an added layer of redundancy and in some cases, compliance.
How to set up Cloud Sync
Complete the following steps to configure Cloud Sync:
-
If you have not already done so, create the storage destination in your cloud storage service (i.e.: an AWS S3 Bucket).
- Note: For GitHub users migrating from BackHub, the destination does not need to be the same as you had in BackHub. NEW Cloud Sync backups will be created, and your older version will remain for your reference only.
- (Optional) If you’re connecting to AWS S3 and want to keep every version of the items that Rewind is backing up, you'll need to enable versions on your S3 bucket. Instructions for enabling versions can be found here (with detailed Console and CLI methods at the bottom of the linked page).
- Log into the Rewind application, open the vault you'd like to configure from the dropdown in the top right of your screen.
- Select the vault settings menu to begin setting up Cloud Sync.
- You'll see the dialog for setting up Cloud Sync. Follow the configuration instructions provided in the dialog.
- Enable syncing and Save the configuration.
Cloud Sync should be configured. Synching with your AWS destination will begin with your next Rewind backup.
