Migrating BackHub to Rewind Backups for GitHub

It's time for an upgrade! Rewind is moving our BackHub customers to the newer, more powerful Rewind Platform. You'll soon join users of Rewind for Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Shopify, QuickBooks, and more, in benefiting from the added features and scalability that come with our new platform.

What to expect:

Our mission is to ensure a smooth transition for you with minimal disruption. Customers will be migrated in waves. This process began in October 2023 and continues into early 2024. You will be notified of your pending migration through a series of emails that will arrive over 2 to 3 weeks. During this time, you will receive migration-related emails with the following approximate cadence:

1. Two weeks before migration: This email will include an overview of the new Rewind Backups for GitHub interface, details of the migration process, and additional training materials. It may have been the very email that brought you to this page.
2. One week before migration: This email will include confirmation of your migration window, details regarding your first login, and information on accessing older backups from the legacy “BackHub” system.
3. Day 1 of your migration: This step will be different depending on your subscription.
   1. Cloud Sync customers only: For Cloud Sync customers, there will be additional communication at this step. Your migration will occur in 2 phases. At this phase, your Account will be created, you will be notified, and you will need to log in and configure your Cloud Sync destination before migration can be completed. 
      1. Instructions on how to configure Cloud Sync are available here.
      2. Once you have completed the above step, a full backup will begin automatically within 24 hours.
   2. For all other customers: You will receive an email indicating your BackHub instance is pending migration. Your account will be created in Rewind Backups for Github, and a full backup will automatically be initiated in alignment with your former settings in BackHub (eg: repositories to include.)
4. Your migration completes: Once your first full backup has been completed in Rewind Backups for GitHub, you will receive an email confirmation from the Rewind system.  You are encouraged to log in and review your new instance. Your first full backup can take some time, depending on its size.

About your new user interface:

We’re so excited to give you the first look at your new and improved vault for GitHub backups. Rewind Backups for GitHub includes the features that you know and love with BackHub redesigned to bring you more information and control so that you can rest easy knowing your GitHub data is protected. This article will give you a tour of your updated vault and introduce you to new features that are now available to you.

After the migration

What to do when your migration is completed:

Once you receive notice that your first full backup has completed in the Rewind platform, we recommend the following:

• Log in: Visit Rewind Backups for GitHub at your earliest convenience. Your new experience awaits! You will be automatically routed to the Rewind Backups for GitHub platform.
• Take the guided tour: To help you navigate the new interface effectively, we highly recommend taking our guided tour. It's a great way to get acquainted with the Rewind platform’s powerful new features.
• Review your user management: Audit your team members and their permissions.
• Perform a data review: Take a moment to review your backed-up data. If you encounter any issues or have questions, our support team is here to assist you.
• Backups are automatic: Rest easy knowing that future backups are automatically scheduled every 24 hours. No additional configuration is necessary.

Accessing Your Old Backups:

If you need to access backups resident on BackHub, they will continue to be available for the committed duration of your BackHub agreement. You will see a button in your new Rewind interface labeled “Go to BackHub” that will take you to your legacy BackHub system and data.
