How to set up Cloud Sync for Azure
- In the Rewind Backups app, select the account for which you want to configure Cloud Sync and click on the cog () icon in the top right and then click on Manage Cloud Sync:
- Click on Select Storage Provider, select Azure and click Next:
- In your Azure account, go to your Storage Account and click on the three dots to the right of the container you wish to use for Azure Cloud Sync and then click on Generate SAS:
- If you do not already have a Storage Account then please follow the steps here to create one.

- In the next page (Generate SAS), ensure to add the Create, Write permissions as follows:
*Note* Rewind validates that it can access your blob container by creating small and temporary test files under the prefix “/rewind-test/*”. As such, if you want these test files automatically deleted then you can additionally add Delete permissions, which Rewind will only use to delete these test files. Rewind never attempts to delete any files other than these temporary test files.
- Ensure that the other settings match the ones in the following screenshot. In particular, ensure to set a generous Expiry and take note of when it expires. Rewind will e-mail you one week before it expires to remind you to renew the token by following these steps again.
Ensure that you do not put any IP addresses in the Allowed IP addresses field otherwise the configuration will fail.
- Click Generate SAS token and URL and copy the generated SAS URL:
- Go back to the Rewind Backups app and enter the SAS URL copied form step 6 into the Blob SAS URL field:
Ensure to fill out the Region field and add a unique Storage Key Prefix for your backup account so that your Storage Container can be used to sync multiple accounts without data being clobbered.
- You are now ready to test your configuration (Test Connection) and Save your changes.
