You can assign or change a member's role in your Rewind organization to control what they can access. This article explains each role you can assign, how to change someone's role, and what happens to their access when you do.
Steps to assign or change a user role
- Log in to Rewind at app.rewind.com.
- Open Account Settings from the left menu, then select Team Collaboration.
- Find the member whose role you want to update, then click the pencil icon on the right-hand side of their row.
- Choose a role:
- Organization admin can manage settings, billing, integrations, and users. They can't transfer ownership or perform data exports.
- Integration admin can configure and manage the integrations you assign, including running backups and restores. They can't manage users or billing.
- Read only can view the backups, backup status, and history for the integrations you assign. They can't make changes, back up, or restore.
- Backup configuration admin can view and restore the data in the backup configurations you assign. They can't change the configuration itself, see other backup configurations, or manage users, billing, or integrations. Available for Jira and GitHub.
- Backup configuration viewer can view the data in the backup configurations you assign. They can't make changes, back up, or restore. Available for Jira and GitHub.
- For Integration admin and Read only, select which integrations the member should have access to. For Backup configuration admin and Backup configuration viewer, select which backup configurations they should have access to.
- Click Update to apply the change.
Tip: Follow the principle of least privilege. Grant the lowest role that still lets the person do their job.
Good to know
-
A user has one role at a time
Changing someone from Integration admin to Backup configuration admin narrows their access to only the backup configurations you then select. They lose visibility of everything else in that integration. -
You can't change the role of the current Organization owner
Transfer ownership to another member first. See How to transfer Rewind organization ownership. -
Backup configuration roles are available for Jira and GitHub
Your organization also needs at least one backup configuration set up for that integration. If none exist, there's nothing to select when you choose the role.
