What's changing
Prices for Rewind Backups for GitHub will increase for:
- Enterprise plans with 100 or more users
- Legacy per-repository plans
New customers have been on the new pricing since October 1, 2026.
When the new price applies
- Monthly plans: automatically on November 20, 2026. Your next bill after that date reflects the new price.
- Annual plans: at your first renewal on or after November 20, 2026. Your Renewal Specialist will reach out before your renewal to confirm your new price. If your plan renews before November 20, 2026, it renews for one more term at your current price.
Plans that aren't changing
- Pro plans
- Enterprise plans with fewer than 100 users
- Individual plans
Why we're making this change
This is the first price change for Rewind Backups for GitHub since we acquired BackHub in 2021. Since then, we've added:
- Exports of individual repositories
- Backup and restore of repository permissions
- Backup and restore of GitHub Custom Properties
- Restores of repositories larger than GitHub's 2GB per-commit limit
- Backup and restore of branch protection rules and rulesets
- ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification, alongside SOC 2 Type II
This change lets us keep investing in coverage, restore speed and security for GitHub.
What Enterprise now includes
Enterprise now includes the controls larger teams ask us for most:
- Premium support: extended weekday hours plus weekends, live chat, assisted onboarding and restore help
- Backups as often as every 6 hours
- Configurable retention, from 90 days to 7 years
- Backup Policies, which set backup frequency and retention for the repositories you choose
- Bring Your Own Key (AWS KMS) and Bring Your Own Storage (AWS S3)
- Git LFS backups
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to do anything?
No. Your backups, settings and backup history carry on as they are.
What is my new price?
Your notice email has the details for your plan.
- Monthly plans: the new price shows on your next bill after November 20, 2026.
- Annual plans: your Renewal Specialist will confirm your new price with you before your renewal. It's based on the highest number of GitHub organization members during your previous term.
When can I use the new Enterprise features?
If you're on Enterprise, they're available when your plan moves to the new pricing: automatically on November 20, 2026 on a monthly plan, or at your first renewal on or after November 20, 2026 on an annual plan.
From then, Premium support, Git LFS backups and choosing the time of day your daily backup runs work without any setup. For backups more often than once a day, as often as every 6 hours, contact us.
Bring Your Own Storage, Bring Your Own Key, configurable retention and Backup Policies need a one-time migration first. If you already use them, nothing changes. The migration moves your account to new storage and starts a fresh full backup.
Will Git LFS backups start on their own?
Yes, once your plan moves to the new pricing. Rewind backs up a repository after new changes are pushed to it, and from then on that backup includes the repository's Git LFS files.
A repository with no new pushes keeps its existing backup until its next push. If you'd like every repository's LFS files backed up without waiting for a push, contact us.
I'm on a legacy per-repository plan. Do I need to change plans?
No. Your plan stays as it is. If you'd like to compare it with our current per-user plans, contact us.
What if I have a custom contract or buy through AWS Marketplace?
This article covers our standard plans. Your Renewal Specialist can tell you how this applies to your contract.
