This article explains the app update available for Rewind Backups for Confluence following a move to updated app infrastructure on the Atlassian Marketplace. It covers why the update appears in Atlassian Admin, what your Atlassian admin needs to do to install it, and confirms that your backups, connection, and data are not affected.
What's happening
We've moved Rewind Backups for Confluence to an updated app infrastructure on the Atlassian Marketplace ("Connect on Forge"). A new major version of the app is now available for your Confluence instance.
Because this is a major version, Atlassian does not install it automatically and does not send you a notification. To move to the new version, your Atlassian admin needs to click Update once.
What you need to do
- Go to Atlassian Admin (admin.atlassian.com).
- Open Apps and find Rewind Backups for Confluence — you'll see an Update badge next to it.
- Open the app and click Update.
Note: You must be an Atlassian admin to update apps. - Atlassian will ask you to approve a permissions update. Click Accept & Update to continue.
- That's it — no further steps are required.
What changes for you
Nothing about how Rewind works changes once you approve the update — you'll just need to complete that one step. Here's what stays the same:
- Your existing connection, retention settings, and backup configurations stay in place.
- Your backups continue on the same schedule without interruption.
- All previous backup history and data are retained.
- What Rewind protects and how restores work stays the same.
- Your plan and pricing are unchanged.
Don't see an update yet?
We're rolling this out in stages, so the update may not be available on your instance immediately. No action is needed until you see it — you'll be able to update whenever it appears in Atlassian Admin.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to update right away?
No. Your current version keeps working and your backups keep running. We recommend updating when it's convenient so you're on the latest version.
Will I lose any backups if I update?
No. All previously backed-up data and your backup history are retained.
Do I need to set Rewind up again after updating?
No. Your existing connection and backup history stay in place. During the update you'll be asked to Accept & Update a permissions prompt — that's a normal part of the update; just accept it and you're done. (This is different from "Reconnecting Your Confluence Instance to Rewind", which only applies if your backups have stopped — that is unrelated to this update.)
I'm a new customer — does this affect me?
No. If you're installing Rewind for the first time, just follow "How Can I Install Rewind Backups For Confluence?" — you'll get the current version automatically.
