How many steps should my test flows be?
You can include as many steps as you’d like in your test flow, but we recommend keeping them simple with only one or two steps per flow when possible. This reduces the chance of your flow breaking when you are making changes to your store.
What should I do if I click accidentally while recording a test flow?
If you make a click by accident while recording, simply end your test flow and start over. Any clicks you make while recording will be reproduced as simulated clicks when Monitor is automatically testing your flows.
My test flow failed due to a popup. How can I fix this?
Rewind Monitor blocks most popup providers during the test flow process, but if one causes your test flow to fail, please contact help@rewind.com with the name of the popup provider so we can look at excluding this popup from future tests.
Does Rewind Monitor impact my store’s performance?
No, Rewind Monitor will not impact your store’s performance.
Does Rewind Monitor impact my store’s metrics?
Rewind Monitor will not impact store metrics on Shopify, Google Analytics, or Amplitude.
What location do these test flows run from (geographically)?
During the upload process, you can choose whether to run your test flow from a US-based server (default) or instead select Canada, Australia, or the UK.
What happens if a product included in my test flow sells out?
If you have recorded an “add to cart” test flow using a product that is now sold out, this will cause your test flow to fail. If this happens, simply create a new test flow using an in-stock product.
When recording test flows involving products, we recommend using a product that is most likely to remain in stock or experience few changes. If you are using a product page in the final stage of your test flow, we recommend utilizing fuzzy match for better testing accuracy (learn more below)
How often do these test flows run?
Test flows run automatically once per 24 hours, or whenever there is a change made to your store, such as a theme update.
What should I do if my test flow fails?
To investigate a failed test flow, you can click into the test flow from the testing flows tab and view a screenshot of each failed flow.
If the reason for the failure is still unclear, you can click view info on the advanced debugging information notice for technical insights.
We also recommend trying the flow yourself on your live store to help identify what is going wrong. If the reason for the failure is still unclear, you can try to re-record the test flow.
Can I test end-to-end checkout flow?
Due to restrictions with Shopify and for customer privacy, we do not support end-to-end checkout flow monitoring. You can create a test flow up until the payment details page in Shopify, but be aware that this will trigger an abandoned checkout.
My email/newsletter signup test flow failed. What happened?
Your email or newsletter signup test flow might fail for the following reasons:
- You’re trying to test a flow using a third-party app (e.g. a Klaviyo form) rather than a Shopify email capture
- You have captcha enabled in your store settings
- You have enabled “social sharing options” such as Pinterest on your product pages
Can I still record a test flow if my store is password protected?
Yes. While you’re recording your test flow in Incognito mode, begin recording before you enter the store password.
Can I record a test flow that includes third-party apps or iframes?
While it is not possible to record test flow content in an iframe, you can record a test flow using custom elements and shadow DOMs. This will cover most testing cases that involve third-party apps. Learn more here: What are custom elements and shadow DOMs? (Rewind Monitor).
What test flows should I create?
Your test flows are entirely custom, so we encourage you to think about the more critical user journeys for your store. We recommend starting with a simple flow including your top-selling products to get familiar with test flows.
Some examples of flows:
- Product page > Add to cart > Checkout
- Home > Collection page
- Collection page > Buy it Now button
- Cart > Upsell

My store is headless. Can I create test flows in Rewind Monitor?
Yes! While manual test flows will work the same, Shopify stores that run on headless (Hydrogen) can utilize the webhook URL option for theme-triggered test flows.
For standard Shopify stores with themes hosted in Shopify, Rewind Monitor test flows are automatically run whenever an update is made to the online store theme. For headless stores with theme code hosted outside of Shopify, Rewind Monitor is unable to detect those theme code changes automatically.
If you would like to set up theme change-triggered test flows for a headless store, visit the settings tab in Rewind Monitor where you will find a flow run webhook URL. Simply send a POST request to this URL. When triggered, this will cause all test flows to be re-run. Note: Flows can only be run once every 10 minutes to prevent them from getting flagged as bots.
How many test flows can I create?
By default, each Protection Suite plan includes up to 10 test flows per store. If you have reached 10 test flows in your account, you will need to delete one before creating a new one.
Additional test flows may be available for purchase. If you require more test flows, please contact sales@rewind.com for more details.
