Getting Started
Installation
We recommend installing Rewind using a dedicated, admin-level service account that has full access to all Workspaces. This ensures that Rewind can perform consistent, complete backups across your monday.com environment.
When prompted during setup, choose “All Workspaces” to make future restores as smooth as possible. While it's technically possible to select only specific Workspaces, doing so may complicate the restore process later.
Once installed, your first backup begins automatically. The duration will vary depending on the size of your monday.com account — anywhere from a few minutes to several hours.

Managing settings in the full Rewind web app
If you need to manage settings beyond what's available in the embedded app—such as reviewing audit logs, updating subscription or billing details, or managing other backups linked to your Rewind account—you can access these features through the full Rewind web app. This version of the app opens in a separate browser tab and offers a complete view of your backup environment.

Inviting additional users to Rewind
When you invite additional users to your Rewind account, they will have access to all data captured in your backup. This includes private boards and items accessible to the admin or user who initially linked Rewind with monday.com, even if the newly invited users don’t normally have permission to view that content within monday.com.
For example, if an admin links Rewind and has access to another user’s private board, any new user invited to Rewind will also be able to see that private board—even if they can’t access it directly on monday.com.

Limitations:
- *Private and Shareable Boards: Rewind can only back up Private and Shareable boards if the monday.com user who installed (linked) Rewind has been explicitly added to those boards. To ensure consistent backups, we strongly recommend installing Rewind Backups using a dedicated monday.com service account and inviting that account to all Private and Shareable boards that need protection.
- *Rating column restores: If the original Rating column was deleted and needs to be recreated, customization options (such as hearts vs. stars, or custom star counts) will reset to the default 5-star setup. However, the rating values themselves will still be restored correctly.
- *Files: Rewind backs up and restores files added via the File column. However, files (i.e., assets or attachments) added directly to updates or docs are not downloaded or stored — only the file link (provided by monday.com) is backed up. These links expire after 30 days, after which the file can no longer be recovered.
- *Docs: For monday.com Docs, only the reference is backed up — not the content itself. If the reference expires, or the doc is deleted by monday.com, it cannot be restored. Full support for content backup is coming soon.
- *Button Column: Button columns are restored, but Rewind cannot restore or update the automations attached to them. Any automations will need to be recreated manually.
Restoring Your Data
Rewind supports two types of restores. Item-level restores let you roll back specific boards, items, or sub-items without impacting the rest of your workspace.
