External Notifications allow you to send email alerts to individuals who don’t have a Rewind account. External recipients can include distribution lists, shared inboxes, or third-party systems like monitoring tools. Each recipient can be subscribed to specific event categories, giving you fine-grained control over alert delivery. This guide explains how to add external recipients and configure the types of events they’ll be notified about.
Permission level required:
Only Rewind Organization Admins and Owners can configure and manage External
Notifications.

- Enter the email address(es) of the external recipients you want to notify.
-
Expand the notification categories to view available options:
- Admin Events – App installations, member changes, etc.
- Information Events – Backup completions, exports, and restores.
- Security Events – Password changes, 2FA settings, and more.
- Check the boxes beside the types of events or event categories that should trigger notifications.
- Click Add external recipients to confirm and apply your configuration.
Tip: By
checking the box next to
Notify for all current and future events you will
also automatically be subscribed to new notification types as Rewind
expands functionality. This is unchecked by default.
Important:
External recipients may receive sensitive or personally identifiable information
(PII), depending on the events selected. Only add trusted and appropriate addresses
in line with your organization’s compliance and security policies.
