At Rewind, we continue to strive to build new features and integrations our Customers will love. Listed below are the significant changes we've made to the Rewind platform since 2021. The newest changes are listed at the top.

August / 2026

• Rewind API - Connect to Rewind programmatically using a secure API key, available to all customers on every paid plan. View backup status, recent backup history, and pull your organization’s audit log - then act on it by triggering a backup or an account-level restore, all from your own scripts and tools. Review past versions of your backed-up Jira issues and Confluence pages: find a backed-up item, see its version history, and read what it said at any past point in time (requires Jira Advanced for Jira content, Confluence Advanced for Confluence content). • Rewind MCP - Ask Claude or other AI clients about your Rewind backups in plain language. Connect the Rewind MCP with your Rewind API key and check backup status and health, see how much has been backed up over time, review your audit log, and trigger an on-demand backup - just by asking, without opening the Rewind app. For Jira and Confluence you can also read past versions of your backed-up content, including content that was later changed or deleted (requires Jira Advanced for Jira content, Confluence Advanced for Confluence content). • Xray Backups & Restores (for Jira) - Xray test data is now backed up and restorable. Tests, preconditions, test plans and test sets back up alongside the Jira instance they belong to, and restore - item by item or all together - with the links between them rebuilt. Available on the Advanced Jira plan.
• Rewind Access Fabric - Improved UI and Navigation. New roles Backup Config Admin Backup Config Viewer - only available for Jira for customers who have Backup Configs setup and are not on SSO.
• Bookmarking - The ability for users to name and add notes to the backup as part of a manual “Backup Now” run. This feature available for Jira and Confluence customers on the Advanced plan. Bookmarking is also available on Shopify to select Enterprise customers. Qualifying should reach out their Accounts team.
• Rewind Labs Preview: Pilot Light for Jira - A limited preview of a feature that allows Jira users to visual see the contents of their most recent backup in the UI. Available in Preview for Advanced plan customers within the Rewind Labs Preview program. 

July / 2026

• Metaobjects Copy in Rewind Staging for Shopify - When you copy a store with Rewind Staging, your metaobjects now come along. Please ensure that you accept the permission scopes on both the source and destination stores.
• GitHub Branch Protection & Rulesets backups and restores - Your repository’s protections now come back with it. Rewind backs up and restores classic branch protection rules and rulesets (repo and organization level), so a restored repository returns fully governed, with required reviews, status checks, and merge policies already in force. Restoring an organization-level ruleset is also additive: Rewind creates a new, disabled copy for you to review and enable, and never edits the rulesets you already have in place. Please ensure that you accept the permission scopes to begin backing up this resource.
• Bitbucket issue tracker data (issues, comments, attachments, milestones, versions, and components) is no longer included in backups. Atlassian has retired the API endpoints that provided it.
• Jira - Rewind is now on Connect on Forge for both our Jira and Confluence apps

June / 2026

• Jira & Confluence
  • Reinstalling an integration with a broader-access account now automatically runs a full beginning-of-time backup, so reconnecting re-captures your full history instead of leaving a silent gap.
• Jira
  • Atlassian has introduced new ways to manage Field Configurations; starting Jul 1, 2026we will no longer be supporting Field Configuration API and will start supporting Field Schemes and associated resources.
• Confluence
  • Rewind is now on Connect on Forge for our Confluence app. Update your app via the Atlassian App Marketplace.
• For Jira Advanced and Enterprise plan customers:

  • Ability for customers to setup Backup Policies.

May / 2026

• Jira
  • Restore to another instance now supports Project Category and Project Features.
• Klaviyo
  • Updated the Klaviyo integration to API version 2026-01-15 for improved compatibility and reliability.
• Security
  • Mandatory MFA is coming to all Rewind accounts on June 1, 2026. Email code verification will be enabled by default — no setup required.

April / 2026

• Jira
  • Backup, restore, and restore-to-another-instance now support Space Work Item Security Schemes
  • Restore-to-another-instance now supports Work Item Custom Field Contexts and Work Item Custom Field Options
  • For Advanced and Enterprise plan customers:
    • Hot Standby Sync now covers Work Item Custom Field Contexts, Work Item Custom Field Options, and Permission Schemes

March / 2026

• Jira
  • Backup, restore, and restore to another instance now support the following additional items: Space property, Space versions, Permission schemes, Permission scheme grants, Sprints.
  • Backup and restore now support Work item custom field contexts.
• Hot Standby for Jira
  • Customers on the Advanced plan can now set up Hot Standby for Jira.
• GitHub
  • Customers on the Pro and Enterprise plans can now set up backup policies for GitHub repositories.

February / 2026

• Updated our Shopify integration to the latest API version (v2025-07) to maintain performance and future compatibility.

January / 2026

• Backup and restore support for Confluence Roles (item-level and account-level restores)
• GitHub and Azure DevOps restores now include a timestamp in the repo name to avoid naming conflicts.

December / 2025

• Backup and restore support now includes the Custom Properties resource within GitHub.
• Backup Policies (private beta) for GitHub, which allows customers to create one or multiple backup policies, each with their own backup frequency and data retention period, and associate repositories for them through Custom Properties.

November / 2025

• Upgraded backup engine to process complex and large backups more efficiently.
• Upgraded restore logic to bypass GitHub’s 2GB per-commit limit; Backups for GitHub customers can now restore GitHub repositories over 2GB automatically without manual workarounds.

October / 2025

• Shopify Metaobjects backup and restore support for definitions and entries is now included with applicable plans; please approve the new scope access at the top of the vault or in your Shopify portal to begin backing up these new resources.
• Increased the scalability of backups using Bring Your Own Storage (BYOS)

September / 2025

• Added RBAC support for SSO customers. Contact help@rewind.com for help configuring RBAC with SSO.
• Removed page_version resource from Backups for Confluence; Rewind continues to maintain its own version history.
• Metaobjects are now supported within Rewind Backups for Shopify. To allow us to start backing up Shopify Metaobjects, you’ll need to grant Rewind additional access by clicking Update Permissions in the orange banner at the top of the Rewind Vault.

August / 2025

• We’ve now added the ability to configure custom data retention periods. Contact help@rewind.com or your Account Manager to learn more. See Configurable data retention: Feature overview to learn more.
• Restore to another instance is now in open beta. You can install a destination instance and choose to restore data to the new destination instance (Jira supported only). We have also added support for Boards. See Restoring data to another Jira instance: In-depth overview to learn more.

July / 2025

• Improved search functionality (exact match, AND, NOT, wildcard operators)
• Added support for GitHub repository permissions (backup and restore)
• Added enhanced notification support for Org Owners, Org Admins, and external recipients based on Audit Log events

  • We have fixed some issues that affected the chronological sequencing of comments, and your comments should now be restored in the order in which they were created.
  • We have also made fixes related to issue links not being restored when making item-level or project-level restores, which should be fixed now.

November / 2024

• Jira
  • For backups from November 4th, 2024 onwards we now support the restoration of in-line attachments in comments, ensuring that your restore quality is better than ever.
  • We implemented a fix to help reduce the time it takes to restore to a new instance.
  • We implemented a fix to support more restore scenarios. Now, when re-creating team-managed projects during a restore or a restore to a new instance, issues with a custom issue type will be re-created as Tasks instead of skipped.
  • We implemented a fix to remove duplicate versions in the Vault that impacted some customers and enhanced the speed so that you can see your data faster.
