Rewind allows you to restore individual Shopify items to a previous version using the All Items tab. This is helpful when a specific item was accidentally changed, overwritten, or deleted and you need to restore only that item instead of running a full or bulk restore.
Individual restores let you review available backup versions of an item and choose the exact version you want to restore.
What data can Rewind restore? Rewind backs up many different types of Shopify data. For a complete breakdown of what data is included in Shopify backups and restores, see our Shopify backup and restore coverage guide.
Before restoring an individual item
-
Create a manual backup first
Before performing a restore, we recommend performing a manual backup in Rewind to ensure the most recent changes in your store are captured in a backup. See How to complete a manual backup for detailed steps. -
Backup versions depend on when items change
A new backup version is created each time Rewind detects a change to an item. Because of this, available backup dates will vary depending on when changes occurred.
Steps to restore an individual Shopify item
- Log in to your Rewind account.
- Click Integrations > Shopify from the left-hand menu and select your Shopify store.
- Ensure you land on the All Items tab.
- Hover over the item you want to restore and click View Versions to see available backup versions of that item.
Tip: If you're trying to locate a specific item in Rewind, you can use filters and search tools in the All Items tab to narrow down results. See How to filter and search for items in Rewind for detailed steps. - Select the backup version you want to restore from the dropdown and click Restore to this version at the bottom of the overview.
Tip: You can toggle the Source Code view in the upper-right to see additional details about the item's data stored in the backup. This view shows the underlying fields and values for the selected version, which can help you compare changes between the current version and the version you plan to
restore. - The restore will begin automatically, and you will receive an email notification once the restore has completed.
Additional information
- Only one restore can run at a time. Once you receive the email confirming that a restore has completed, you can begin another restore if needed.
- To confirm the data that will be restored for each item type, see our Shopify backup and restore coverage guide.
- To restore multiple items at once — like all products, all customers, or your entire store — see Shopify: Restore all backed-up data or specific item types.
- To learn about reviewing backup and restore activity, see the Audit Log FAQ.
